I ‘loved’ the theme, but was struggling with just how to demonstrate it with an image. I couldn’t take a picture of God, Who is the ultimate definition of love, because He is kind of difficult to capture with pixels. :O)
So, I pondered on what I could come up with as a suitable stand in.
These wedded hands belong to my in-laws, who have survived and thrived in a 62 year marriage. The years have brought their share of “ for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness or in health, to love and to cherish ’till death do us part.” Their commitment before God and man all those years ago has been a sober reminder to remain faithful, ready to sacrifice, kind, tenderhearted, forgiving, seeking forgiveness, not allowing bitterness to develop in their hearts, and, well, just choosing to get along when the other is being difficult, even impossible…:O) (because of course, we are NEVER difficult or impossible ourselves…..)
Marriage can be agonizing work at times, but, just like any worthy goal or accomplishment, the rewards of the relationship forged in the fire of life is well worth the sacrifice and effort.
