Project 52, Week 5–”Eyes”

I automatically think of the gelatinous orbits within a skull structure when I think of ‘eyes’, but apparently, so do a lot of other people.

Sewing needle eyes

So, in order to stretch my brain to think

outside of my little box, I determined

NOT to post eyeballs for my submission.

So, on to other eyes–potatoes? Ugh…they

are rather ugly. Eye of the storm? Hmmmm…

not too practical, unless it is an emotional storm,

which may be embarrassing for the victi–

I mean, the subject. I finally decided on sewing

needle eyes, and excitedly prepared

my tiny props, almost giddy to get such an ‘original’

concept posted before anyone else.

After completing and preparing my image, what

do you think I saw when I first went to upload it?

Yep. ‘nuther one….O.o

*SIGH* Oh well, I exercised my brain enough

this week…;o)

Come on now, don’t be shy, post your

own interpretation of “Eyes” on my FB page.

Monday evenings is the weekly deadline.

Now,  Week 6 is “Signs”…

Who would like to join me on an adventure! :)

HEY!!

For those of you who are interested in improving or developing your photography skills, I am currently taking part in a year-long project on Google+ called, “Project 52″. (Well, actually now it could be called Project 48, since 4 weeks are almost through…LOL) Anyhow, it is a weekly submission of an image that somehow relates to the theme of the week. For instance, the current week’s theme is titled “Eyes”.  I will be posting my weekly submission here on my blog, on G+, and on my Monica Cowles Photography Facebook page.  It would be fun to have you join me any time by posting your images right on my page. Then we can all learn together! COOL!

Week 4 Up

Here is last week’s submission for the theme titled,

“UP”. The weather was incredibly dull for any sky

images, and I scraped around in my brain for the

whole week, panicked that I wasn’t going to make

the Monday deadline for a submission. I was sitting

at my table and with a sigh, put my chin on my hands.

As I did so, I happened to glance up at my chandelier

hanging over my head. *GASP* Inspiration!! :O)

So, you just never know where an idea may

present itself!

The Theme for Week 5 is “Eyes”,

so get ready, get set,

and let’s GO!

Don’t be shy now,

I want to see your photos!

And be sure and tell others

to come join the fun!

Family Portraits

This was such a fun session! Thank you again, Brook and Joseph for the opportunity to work together.  Your adorable kids were incredible! I was so impressed with them–they were happy, cooperative, and I didn’t hear them complain once about the chilly weather….Brrr…..:)

The Ultimate Reward…

“ There are really no words to describe what I feel when I see our portraits.                                                                                             Canvas wrap in home
Even thinking about how amazing they are and how they really show the love we have
for each other and also how much I adore my husband brings tears to my eyes.
You are quite the talent! Thank you, thank you, thank you for your time and thoughtfulness
and for giving me something that I will treasure my whole life.”   Julie Rifenberg

THIS  is the main reason I am a photographer.

I do enjoy the creative process. I like studying and learning the craft, as well as challenging myself

to grow artistically. I even enjoy the little thrill of winning prizes through contests or competitions.

But none of those are nearly as valuable to me as knowing that I have been successful in capturing

that tender moment of love my client was hoping for, and knowing that memory will be cherished

for years to come. I am blessed!

Super Size it!

It’s not too often that I have images enlarged much more than 30 inches, but for this job, the largest print was just over 10 feet tall! If you look carefully, you can see it hanging in the window of the new Elliot Building in downtown Aberdeen.

I had the privilege of doing the copywork for the Elton Bennett art that is now hanging in the lobby of the newly finished construction. This beautiful display was designed by Greg McHugh of McHugh’s Furniture in Hoquiam, and excellently printed by Jeff Edwards and his team over at Image Signs, also in Hoquiam.  I stopped by this afternoon to check it out, and was very impressed with the finished work. If you would like to see the collection of Elton Bennett’s beautiful artwork, stop by and see in person the next time you are passing through town…these ‘small’ pictures just don’t do them justice..:o)
